Flotek Group is excited to welcome David Astwood into a key leadership role as Head of Cloud Infrastructure, a move that strengthens the company’s momentum following the acquisition of Microshade Business Consultants Limited.

After years of close collaboration, David’s appointment signals a deliberate shift towards deeper innovation, sector expansion, and a more robust cloud offering for UK organisations.

Proven Leadership, Deep Sector Knowledge

David joins Flotek with over a decade of experience as Technical Director at Microshade VSM Ltd, where he played a central role in delivering secure, scalable cloud services. His work has supported more than 300 local councils across the UK, helping them modernise, strengthen their infrastructure, and build long-term digital resilience.

Accelerating Growth Across Councils, Accounting & Legal

The acquisition of Microshade marks a natural evolution of a long-standing partnership. With David now part of Flotek’s leadership team, the Group is positioned to broaden its specialist private cloud services beyond local government.

Accounting firms and legal practices, many of which rely on legacy systems and strict compliance, will benefit from secure, high-performance, private cloud environments designed around control, continuity, and regulatory confidence.

Strengthening Cloud Security & Data Sovereignty

As data sovereignty becomes a critical priority for UK organisations, Flotek is investing heavily in secure, sovereign cloud infrastructure. A major part of this strategy is the migration from the existing data centre to a dedicated, virtualised environment built in partnership with OVH Cloud in London. This setup, supported by OVH’s global data centres, will deliver enhanced security, resilience, and scalability.

The acquisition of Microshade has enabled Flotek to fast-track this transformation and sets the stage for significant expansion through 2026 and beyond.
